Easter travel plans
Okie dooks, think my Easter plans are more or less confirmed now,
8th ~ 9th April (Sat/Sun)- Road trip to Bath
The whole bunch of us are going to rent an MPV & together with Jason n Judy’s car, take a 4 hr drive down to the scenic city of Bath. The city got its name from its well known Roman Baths when it was a roman city. Jane Austen was from Bath!
Anyway, we’re going to explore the city, then during the evening, drive towards the city of Bristol to do shopping!! The plan is to stay a night in Holiday Inn. Wow! That would be my first time staying in a hotel in UK.
10th~14th April- Backpacking trip around Germany (& hopefully Poland?)
Flying with Auds, Wilson & Cas to Berlin. The return tickets cost not more than ₤30. The travel itinerary isn’t really firmed up yet. All 4 of us have different plans. Since Berlin is like 1.5 hrs away from Poland, I’m hoping that we’ll have time to go to Warsaw (3.5hrs). But Wilson thinks that the time spent traveling to another country could be better spent exploring Germany in detail. He’s interested in going up some German mountainy area (I can’t remember the name, its in German). Auds is checking up German villages which she wants to visit. Cas… well, the last time she suggested going somewhere, would be to the Indoor beach in Berlin. The remaining 3 of us were like ‘…..?’ Think we’ll just decide which places we want to go once we reach Germany, basically just hop onto the trains there. One thing is for sure, we’re going to visit the Berlin wall and some of the World Cup stadiums. We’re going to do this the authentic backpacking way- stay in youth hostels, eat bread & jam. No trolley luggages allowed, only backpacks!
*grins* Sounds really exciting. This would be the first time I’ll be exploring a place which isin’t predominately English speaking. Traveling around England, all you need is a map. Then you can look out for road signs or ask for directions ( visited places around England like London, Lingfield, Stropshire, Nottingham, Coventry, Oxford, York, Manchester, Liverpool, Chester and Canterbury so far.) Ahh, can’t wait!
18th April- Meet up with Ashanti?
This meet up isn’t confirmed yet. So far, we’ve only talked about this on msn. Ashanti is coming down from Ireland to Nottingham. We plan to meet up since we’ve never done so in Europe. Don’t know if she is coming to Loughborough or whether I’m supposed to go up to Nottingham to meet her.
20th to 24th April- London /Lingfield /Brighton (maybe Stropshire)
Going to take a coach down to London. Might want to do so earlier in the day. Then maybe I could watch the matinee for Le Miserables. Need to go to Chinatown to top up my laksa and ‘tong sui’ supplies too. After that, I’ll take a train down to my uncle’s place in Lingfield.
Lingfield is somewhat ‘ulu’. It’s in a country side where the nearest provision shop (only 1) is around 20mins walk away. There’s nothing much except for a couple of cottages. There are even 2 cows living in the back yard behind my uncle’s. I like walking in the woods over there. It’s peaceful. Sometimes, you can find a few blackberry shrubs which you can just pluck up and eat while strolling along the muddy paths:)
Saturday, Uncle, Claire and I would be taking a drive down to Brighton! Yay!! I’ve been wanting to visit the popular seaside city for a long time now. Its just too far to get to Brighton from Loughborough. Its 1.5hrs drive for Lingfield. The 3 of us are going to walk barefooted on the pebbled beach and have fish n chips on the pier. Mmm….
Maybe we would be able to squeeze in a visit to Claire’s parents in Stropshire on the way back to Loughborough. There’s a high possibility that there won’t be enough time. But it would be nice to meet Joan & Peter again. Stropshire is even more ‘ulu’ than Lingfield. It’s up on the hills (their backyard reminds me of a scene taken from the Sound Of Music). Their house dates back to more than 200 years ago! Cool huh? Don’t think Singapore even has buildings which were that ancient. Over there, you get to go hiking among sheep and horses. Last time we hiked, we brought 3 dogs along and they enjoyed themselves by swimming in the muddy ditches then coming up and splashing us with mud all over. It’s a very different kind of ‘dog walking’ style. The doggies would be zipping around sniffing and chasing wild rabbits.
24th April (Monday)- School starts:(
