Weekend Blabberings

Nothing much happened this weekend. We did the normal stuff, gather at a place and EaT. Saturday, we went over to Aud’s block to have a semi-potluck. Well, Audrey mainly did the cooking. Jo made Spicy-Cabbages (with a distinct Lao Gan Mah flavour). I did japalang omelets. (lol, realized a few hours before dinner that I had nothing much to offer, only sausages, crab sticks mushrooms, onions and eggs.) The menu for the day was curry, char siew, spicy and non-spicy lettuce, leek with mushroom, blachan chicken and mixed omelets. Desert was strawberry ice-cream.

Conversation for the night revolved around lame and I.Q jokes/ riddles. Patrick seemed to have a vast number of lame jokes. Henry contributed a few ‘Blond’ and ‘Ah-Beng & Ah Seng’ jokes. Anyway, we came up with a new name for Audrey’s block. It seems as though she’s always providing some sort of spicy dish whenever we have potlucks. Thus the restaurant- Audrey’s Curry House was born. (Friends of Auds get a 100% discount!)

Sunday morning, we went to Church. We saw Douglas, Karen and Winnie in Newsprings for the 1st time. Today, Pastor Phil mooed like a giant cow. It was funny. Gabriel and Juvi liked the bit where Pastor imitated a spastic lamb tho. =p He was preaching about offerings, how we are supposed to give God our best produce, not leftovers and things which we don’t want (like a spastic lamb during the olden days). He left us with a quote which I thought was kinda thoughtful- “Do you give God what’s right, or what’s left?”

After service, the usual gang went over to invade Shanghai again (Every week! The boss knows us now, we occupy the largest table every time) This time round, our conversations consisted of more substance. Like how do you differentiate between a sun, satellite, meteorites and planets from all the blinking stuff in the night sky, how can we proof that the universe is expanding… We were also debating about the theory of evolution- to what extend is that true. The main highlight was the Noah riddle- Scientists have found a gigantic ship stuck on the mountain. There is a very high possibility that the ship is indeed Noah’s ark. But the question is, how did Noah get down from the mountain? Anyway, when the lions and other carnivores were stuck in the ship for 150 days, did they feed on wheat, or did they eat the pair of chickens/ turkeys which were on board? Some of us were asking if dinosaurs were on board as well… that led to another debate on whether dinosaurs were extinct during Noah’s time.

When we finally left Shanghai, we were wondering how come our topics were so much more in-dept today as compared to other times. Then someone linked the reason to Patrick’s absence! *laughs*

Here's a photo of Patrick taken a few hours prior to 3 Ashleigh Drive's christmas party last year.

He claims that it was roast chicken which he served us. We think otherwise...
